Design 602 Revonoc

Designed for Harvey Conover, Revonoc (his name spelled backwards) was launched in 1946 and built by Henry B. Nevins of City Island, New York. If you recall, his previous Revonoc was a New York 32 which Mr. Conover sold to Rod Stephens and was renamed Mustang.

Although Mr. Conover made his home port in Larchmont, New York, Revonoc was designed for cruising and racing in southern waters and hence the shallow draft. In addition to cruising she has a commendable racing record. Starting in 1947, she won the Miami-Nassau Race twice, the Lipton Cup Race, the Stamford-Vineyard Race and the Storm Trysail Race. She placed "in the money" in 30 out of 40 some-odd races in which she participated. This is an indication of Mr. Conovers experience and skill as a helmsman.

Revonoc has been completely restored and still actively sailing today. As I mentioned in a previously posted article, a sister has just been launched in New Zealand.
